What is youth care transport?

Youth care transport is transport for children and young people who, due to a need for care, cannot travel independently to a care location. This includes, for example, transport to and from youth care, treatment or support. Whether a child is eligible for youth care transport is determined by the municipality on the basis of the Youth Act.

Reizen door Zeeland organises youth care transport throughout Zeeland. We take care of route planning, work with experienced carriers and are the regular point of contact for parents and caregivers. Clear communication, safety and reliability are central to this. Where possible, we combine trips so that transport is organised efficiently and sustainably.

What do we expect from parents and caregivers?

To ensure that transport is safe and pleasant for all children, we ask parents and caregivers to take a number of agreements into account:

  • Make sure your child is ready at least 5 minutes before the agreed pick-up time.
  • Does your child use a child car seat or booster seat? If so, give it to the driver.
  • Report changes to the transport, such as a cancellation or a different pick-up or drop-off address, no later than one working day in advance before 15.00.
  • Report a sick notification no later than one hour before the scheduled pick-up time.
  • Discuss the agreements during the ride with your child, such as wearing a seat belt, staying seated and treating other travellers and their belongings with respect.
  • Make sure your child adheres to these agreements.
  • Is a trip not taking place, for example due to a holiday or in-service day? Then report this to us in time. We also like to hear about different times during holidays in advance. Without notice, we assume that the trip will go ahead as scheduled.
  • Please note: on official public holidays we do not schedule transport as standard. Do you still need transport that day? Then let us know in advance.

Together we ensure that children are transported safely, comfortably and on time to and from their care location. You can report changes by telephone or e-mail.
